I think one girl I know is sending me a virus that will totally crash my computer, what do I do?!?!?

Someone has been hacking into her emails and msns and getting all of her friends addresses and hacking them. She thinks it's me but it's not! She has a friend who's really good with computers well he put a virus in her one msn account so whoever is hacking her account with get the virus. Well I asked her what if the person hacking her account uses one of her friends accounts to hack it if it will give the virus to our accounts, she said it will! I'm so pissed! I don't have any good virus protection programs. I have mcafee and I'm scanning it but I can't update my spam protector. I'm thinking of getting a new msn account and never talking to her again. What are some GOOD free virus protectors I can download? Will I be safe from the virus if I change my account and don't tell her?

Step One:

If you need a free antivirus go with Avast! or AVG. Either one works very well and both will keep you moderately protected.

Step Two:

You cannot be sent a virus via email unless it is included in either a picture or an attachment. An easy way to prevent viruses from coming in is to go into your email settings and disable images and then just don't open any attachments from her or anyone you suspect (or anyone you don't know). This is your honest first line of defense, avoidance.
