tried everything i can think of. totally deleting and reinstalling itunes and quicktime with the newest version 7.5, unchecked all compatibility boxes, have no virus protection running. itunes icon appears on my desktop, click it and nothing happens, cn click on the icon in program files also does nothing. Any suggestions? Using windows xp OS.

Okay- try this - first uninstall I tunes all over again-, and Quick time as well, now once you are done- you'll have to manually delete registry entries in the system registry - click start- then run - and in the dialog box type "REG EDIT" a new window will open and then expand H_KEY_LOCAL _MACHINE- then expand - SOFTWARE- Okay - find then folder that contains Apple quick time and delete it. do the same for I tunes.
Go ahead and restart your system, and try re-installing Quick time first, and then i tunes, that should do it.
