Installing XP from same disk on two computers?

My new computer came with Vista (UGH) and I want to install XP on it. If I use the disk that my brother has, will there be a problem with the registration (cdkey-like code) or some other form of copywrite protection?

As long as the disk is not an OEM type disk, but is a true Windows XP full install disk, then you can use your Product Key when it comes time to entering the key to continue installation.

You can not use an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) disk on two machines unless both are same make and model. And even then it is iffy as the OEM disk may tag the serial number or some other type of ID of the machine in the hidden boot sector and stop install.

Worse comes to worse, you can always go ahead and try the other OEM disk if both of you have same manufacturer's PC. Just remember it may cause more problems then it's worth if install is aborted.

Yes you have problem in activating the vista since your brother have already activated you cant activate it. This is how microsoft makes more money.
Yes, Authentication will fail. You need a license for each computer it is installed on.
the biggest issue you could run into are drivers , make sure the board in your pc supports xp
Your biggest problem is going to be "downgrading" to XP (really any way of getting rid of vista is a upgrade) but if you just call Microsoft and tell them that you just bought the disk and never used it before and the product key wont work they will probably give you a new one. If not just download one from limewire.
