Hackers and Computer Experts: Need help with MS Excel?

I have sensitive data on a worksheet in Excel, which I don't want edited. Many people here in the office have access to the file. I protected the sheet via Tools--Protection--Protect Sheet, then entered a password. Is there any way my sheet can be unprotected (and hence edited) without knowing the right password? If so, is it easy or obvious to many or would it require serious hacking skills? Thank you.

Microsoft's password protection is not particularly strong and can be easily cracked by a variety of shareware and commercial products. If you want to give people the numbers and no way to edit them, I suggest you "print" the file as an Acrobat .pdf file. This can be done with open-source software known as pdfcreator, along with Ghostscript, without having to pay Adobe's obscene price for Acrobat.

There is nothing a good hacker can't break into. ak the pentagon.

To hack that they would have to be very very good. If your really worried about it then save it to a usb stick and take the stick home with you.
Un-protecting the sheet doesn't require any hacking skills. It just needs an internet connection and a Google search. There are literally hundreds of tools out there that will reveal the password, bypass it or simply unprotect the sheet without the password.
