I need help for my home computer.?

I am basically computer dumb. However my computer crashed and had to be rebuilt over 1 year ago so I know I need virus protection. I've had it with symantec and thru "Answers" was told to try avg. I checked out their website and still feel confused. Virus', trojan horses, worms etc. are dangerous but safety programs are confusing. Can someone tell me what product should protect my computer from these dangers and another crash. I despartely need help in figureing out best solution and will rely on your help and hope no one tries to steer me wrong. Please help me. Thanks.

At a minimum, you need a good resident virus scanner. You should also regualrly scan your machine with spyware scanners. Windows Defender and Spyware Blaster will also offer some degree of resident protection against spyware/malware for free. If you are looking for a list of free tools such as antivirus and spyware scanners check out the blog at http://360.yahoo.com/wektech

I need help for my home computer.?anti virus

I use Norton Antivirus and have neve had any problems with viruses or system errors. Yea, it may not be the best, but like I said it has worked well for me. Just pick an antivirus product and run with it...don't distress too much over the matter.
I work on computers everyday. I would recommend either Bitdefender Internet security, or McAfee Internet security suites. The suites protect from most threats, although I must remind you that they do no good if you do not do your windows updates, scan weekly for spyware, and Viruses, and make sure you virus defs are up to date. Goodluck
Strictly speaking from an IT professional standpoint:
