Computer skipping/freezing?

I just got a new computer this past Christmas. Its an eMachine T3522.Umm....3.33GHz,504 MB of RAM.(Not sure exactly what all that means). It has been fine. But just recently it has starting freezing and skipping really bad.I mean,it was fine 2 days ago.And now all of a sudden i cant connect to my wireless internet (Im using a friends computer right now) and i cant play music or video,Also i had to uninstall the sims 2 which i just bought because it would freeze, and repeat the same note of music over and over. Then do the same thing a few minutes later.I still have warranty,Should i contact them? Could it be a virus (Although i ran a virus protection program) Or could it be the actual computer? Thanks for any info! :-)

a computer skipping/ freezing could be almost anything, another thing that can make them do that is there is not enough memory for applications, too many things running at once, or just the internet doin something funny (with my dial up internet, it makes my computer run slow even if its not on)

Sounds like a virus (The protection programs don't always pick up every one). But it could be the computer. You should contact the company.
