Ok my girlfriend's computer is unfortunately infected with a virus. She has tried running virus protection on it but whenever she tries her computer crashes and she can't log into windows even in safe mode. She is using Norton's and has tried online virus scanners too, but whenever the virus detects her scanning the hard drive it will shutdown the computer and she will not be able to get into windows again.
Only when she resets her router and uplugs her internet connection is she able to get back into windows. She has tried scanning the computer with internet detached, but still same thing happens.
She does not have a copy of her windows CD, her ex-husband took the CD from her and won't return it. So I just have her CD-Key. Can I use my copy of windows and enter her CD-Key in instead of mine, will that work?
Can I install my windows CD using a different Key?kawasaki
It will only work if the CD key that she has is for the same version of windows as your CD. It is also possable that you both have Xp, but hers was home and yours was pro, or one of you had service pack 1 and the other had service pack 2 so it would not work. Best advice I can give you is to try it, I don't think you can make it much worse.
Back up her stuff first!
