downloaded new windows virous protection live key board would not wake up finnally went off solid can not get cpu to turn monitor on ???fan does work emachines brand about one year old

is your monitor switched off..check

is your monitors cord to cpu properly connected or plugged,check

is your monitors brightness switch setup is set to complete dark,check

is your monitor supports your graphics card, read the hardwares manufactures' s info paper.

is your AGP card is properly connected or not damaged ,generally not be the case

is your video adapter or graphics monitor card properly installed and the device not disabled or working properly..go to safe mode and choose "adaptor default"..

Unplug your monitor from the computer. Plug your monitor to a power outlet. Now turn on you monitor on. If it turns on your monitor works and the outlet is good.

Shut down the monitor and connect to the computer while both are off. Double -check your connections. Now turn on your monitor then your computer.
