Can anti spyware programs be wrong?

I have 2 antispyware progams on my computer for addes protection. My isp's antispyware program tells me my computer is clean, but a security icon on my explorer tool bar tells me I have spyware. Could one antispyware program confuse another antispyware program for spyware?

No one product is 100% foolproof. It could be that your ISPs antispyware product has missed something or the other is picking up a false positive.

You also didn't indicate what antispyware products you are using and some are rogue products that are distributed to install malware rather than removing the infection.

If you want to see if your antispyware products are legitimate or not, you can go to one of the sites below and check it out.

if there was one great anti spyware that located and removes all the parasites, there would be no need for other anti spywares. as every security tool is made by different people with different ideas, they all locate and remove different parasites. Also some manufacturers update their software twice a week while others updates several times a day. also some anti spyware use 'false positives' thing, when they pick up a legitimate file and tell you that the file is infected. this mostly happens because of big concurrence: one anti spyware locates another and tells you it is malicious.
