is activeX a safe add-on to download for my computer because i downloaded the game 12sky and all i need to do now is down load the activex add-on. I have windows vista and mcafee full computer protection and when i tried to play 12sky a popup said there was an error then my computer checked for a solution and another popup came up and said that i would have to download directX and it gave me a link to the microsoft download center with step by step directions and i didnt do it because my computers help option said there was some risk behind downloading activeX and i should only do it from a trsuted site. but i was just wondering if this site is trusted. if activeX is safe and if its worth it to play the game 12sky.

as long as its coming from a trusted site. there are risks to it you just need to watch where its being DLed from. And for the record Macafee is just as bad as norton. I suggest NOD32. If you want free though go with avast. For malware get spybot search %26 destroy which is also free

DirectX is safe and inthis case, ActiveX is safe, but only from Microsoft's website.
TIP: ActiveX from most other sites can be,and often is, Malware.
