I guess this needs to be put another way. There seems to be a misunderstanding of the term "pop-ups". Is it that many people don't know there are actually two different kinds? (There's the kind resulting from malware and then there's the ones from web pages which are merely - albiet, annoying - advertisements.)
I think that it's a concern when a web browser is touted to have "built-in pop-up and spyware protection" that people will think that it will actually protect against the malware kind (after the malware is already on the computer) and/or the particular web browser is all a person needs to protect against malware.
In other words, I think it will be possible that the misunderstanding will inevitably lead to misinformation and exaggeration of a web browser's attributes and capabilities.
Don't people realize that there's two different kinds of pop-ups, and it's important to know the difference?

Why all the misinformation regarding the term "pop-ups"?ducati
I'm with Dal. (and you lol) It's true, I consult and teach, and I am still amazed at thee amount of users who do not know a thing about the computer. These are people that use the computer everyday at work, home etc. They haven't a clue.
Then you have the young ones who 'think' they know everything until something goes wrong.
