Do you need virus protection? how can i be secure without it?

my friend told me that if you know what your doing you can set up your computer so that you dont need virus protection but he said it takes a lot of configuration. i am pretty savy with computers and want to learn how i can set it up to be immune to viruses with out a firewall or virus protection. Is this true and where can i get the information on how to set my computer up to do this?

You do need virus protection because new viruses are created everyday and when they get into your computer they damage your hard drive very badly. You can't really set up your computer for this unless you never go on the internet or just go on one very trusted site it would be better to be on the safe side and get a good virus scanner because even on the trusted site if it has ads viruses can still get into your computer. I believe if you have microsoft windows kasperkey is already installed or you could go to a computer and supplies store to find the right virus protecter like D-Pro.
